Local Governance is about managing resources according to local development priorities. SNV wishes to enable local organisations to do this efficiently and effectively. We also believe that good collaboration between local governments, civic organisations and private companies is crucial for improving the lives of communities and fighting poverty.

By linking the processes of decentralisation and administrative reform our aim is to encourage responsive and accountable local governance processes. Such processes would lead to improved management by government offices, better coordination and cooperation and improved delivery of basic services as well as an improved climate for local economic development.
