Lao Government presented an award to a Former SNV Director of Lao (February 2007)

On Friday 23 February 2007, the Lao government presented the Medal of Friendship Award to a former Director of SNV Netherlands Development Organization, Mr. Jack Cortenraad, for the significant achievement and contribution to the realization of the National Socio-economic Development and the National Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy. 

The award was presented to Mr. Cortenraad by the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hiem Phommachan.

SNV SUPPORTS THE BIOGAS SECTOR (November 2006)

On 8 November 2006 the Department of Livestock, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (DLF) and SNV – Netherlands Development Organization signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the provision of support by SNV to DLF for the setting up of a Biogas Pilot Program” which will promote biogas as a substitute of fuelwood and charcoal use by farmers.  The use of biogas will result in considerable fuel-wood savings, save time and will result in a cleaner living environment.

UNWTO ST-EP projects for Viengxay and Houaphanh(11 Jul 06)

The Lao National Tourism Administration (LNTA) has signed and agreement with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and SNV (Netherlands Development Organisation) to deliver two focused Sustainable Tourism Eliminating Poverty (STEP) projects for Viengxay and Houaphanh Province.  The two projects, worth $120,990 will be carried out over the next eighteen months with UNWTO contributing $75,340, SNV contributing $32,350 in both cash and in-kind services and the Deakin University contributing $13,300 in in-kind services.
